About

Hi,

I’m Susan Faith Corl, PH.D., but you can call me Sue. I live in a magical place called Harborside, Maine next to Penobscot Bay. Each season brings new scenery and loads of inspiration. My husband and I have decided to make this our permanent home and are building a house in the area. My studio will be located on the second floor of the house.

I have been crafting, sewing, crocheting, embroidering since I was very young. I always loved doing any kind of craft. As long as I was making something it didn’t make much difference what it was–except weaving and knitting–I am hopeless. In my adult years, I found that I loved to quilt and embroider more than anything else. A little over 25 years ago I began to create wall quilts. They consisted of different sizes and content, but all of them had a story to tell. That is what I want to do with my art–tell a story. Sometimes they are funny stories, like the Peek Babies, and sometimes they are sad stories like This Child. You can see these works on my Instagram page.

As I develop into a Maine artist, I would like to include the stories of the people and the things around me. I want to develop my quilting and embroidery skills as I create my works and teach others to do the same.

I’m excited for this next stage of my life and hope you will follow along with me into the studio.

Goal for Year One

My only goal for year one is to work everyday on my art and find ways to put my work out in the local and across Maine communities.

Each day of the year will be recorded on this blog.
